Enrollment at Bonham ISD schools increased by 5.1% compared to previous school year

There were 1,887 students enrolled in Bonham ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 5.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.4% of them were boys, and 47.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 55.7% of the Bonham ISD total enrollment.

Bonham ISD roughly covers schools within Fannin County with its main office in Bonham.

Among the five schools in Bonham ISD, Finley-Oates Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 550 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
