CITY OF DENISON: The City’s Parks And Recreation Department Is Excited To Share Updates On Facilities And Upcoming Programs

Update

City of Denison issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.

Upcoming events including the 14th Annual Howard Caylor Adult Trout Derby, 16th Family Fellowship Trout Derby and 38th Annual Snowball Classic Adult Softball Tournament will proceed as scheduled or be adjusted to be consistent with reopening guidelines.

 The kayak rental station at Waterloo Lake is currently closed for the season. It will reopen on March 1st at which time adventurers have three options to enjoy: single kayaks, tandem kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. In addition, each rental includes paddles and life jackets. Kayaks are available March 1st - November 30th.

 Park restrooms, drinking fountains, and sports courts are available for use.

 Trails and open space continue to be open and users are encouraged to practice physical distancing recommendations and guidelines.

 Splash pads are closed for the season as of September 30th.

 Waterloo Pool will be open Monday through Friday for lap swim and hyrdofitness by reservations only. Swim Teams are Monday thru Thursday evenings with try-outs being held on Mondays from 4-4:30.. Lap swimming, water walking, and hydrofitness will be available to swimmers with reservations required via denison.recdesk.com or by calling 903-464-4475. Open Swim at Waterloo Pool is Weekends from 1-4pm and Tuesday and Thursday 7-9pm.

 The Denison Senior Citizens Center will be available for Jazzercise participants to resume classes. These classes will operate consistent with safe reopening guidelines outlined by state and federal officials.
